Line symbols by name

How to copy and paste symbols

Click any symbol and it is copied to your clipboard. Paste it into a message, social bio, document or spreadsheet. The name under a symbol opens its page with the Windows Alt code, Mac shortcut and HTML code.

How to type symbols on a keyboard

Windows Alt codes: hold Alt and type the number on the numeric keypad. Alt+3 gives ♥ and Alt+0176 gives °. Codes without a leading zero come from code page 437, codes with a leading zero from Windows-1252. Laptops without a numeric keypad cannot use them.

Microsoft Word: type the Unicode code point (for example 2665) and press Alt+X.

Mac: press Control + Command + Space to open Emoji & Symbols and search by name. Some symbols have Option shortcuts on the U.S. layout, such as Option+G for ©.

Sources: Unicode 14.0.0 character names; Windows code pages 437 and 1252 for Alt codes.
