  • The highest available video quality is selected by default. Other available resolutions are selectable.
  • Dimensions such as 1080 × 1920 and 720 × 1280 describe width × height. The available choices depend on the linked Short.
  • The original aspect ratio and frame rate are preserved. Videos are not upscaled.
  • The selected resolution uses AV1 first, followed by VP9 and H.264. Video is saved without re-encoding; playback requires a player that supports the saved codec.
  • HDR uploads use an SDR stream for the saved MP4.
  • MP4 and MP3 file sizes before download are estimates.

Why won't my Short download?

The link opens a channel or playlist

Open the individual Short and copy its link through Share → Copy link. A channel address or playlist page does not identify one Short to save.

The Short was deleted

Open the same link on YouTube to check whether the Short is still available. A deleted video cannot be downloaded.

The Short requires sign-in

Private, members-only and age-restricted videos require a signed-in YouTube account. This downloader does not support those videos.

The Short is region-blocked

A video blocked in the region where the download service runs cannot be downloaded here. Playing it in your own region does not remove that restriction.

The service is busy

If the page reports that the service is busy, wait a minute before trying the same Short again.

YouTube Shorts download questions

Is this YouTube Shorts downloader free? +
Yes. Shorts downloads are free, with no sign-up or daily download cap. The tool works in your browser without an app or extension.
How is this different from the main YouTube downloader? +
The Shorts page includes a vertical preview and labels video quality by width × height, such as 1080 × 1920. It selects the highest available quality by default. Both pages support video quality selection and MP3 audio.
Will the downloaded Short keep its vertical shape? +
Yes. The saved video keeps its original aspect ratio. A vertical Short stays vertical, and a landscape video stays landscape. The preview uses a 9:16 player for vertical videos and a 16:9 player for landscape videos.
How do I choose the Short's resolution? +
Choose Video (MP4), then select dimensions from the quality buttons below it. The buttons list the resolutions available for that Short. The highest quality is selected by default, and videos are not upscaled.
Can I save just the sound from a Short? +
Yes. Choose Audio Only (MP3). The MP3 contains the Short's audio, including its music, speech and sound effects.
Does the MP4 include sound? +
Yes. Video (MP4) saves the Short's video and sound together in one file. No separate audio file is needed.
Why isn't the Short in Photos on my iPhone? +
A browser download is saved as a file. Open the MP4 in the Downloads folder in Files, then tap Share → Save Video to add it to Photos.
Can I paste a regular YouTube link to a Short? +
Yes. Shorts links, youtu.be share links and standard youtube.com/watch?v=… links are supported. The preview helps you confirm which video the link opens.
Do you keep a copy of the downloaded Short? +
No. MP4 and MP3 files are created in your browser. The files do not pass through DIMA Tools' server and are not stored there.
